Hurricane Ida, its aftermath, other natural occurrences, and COVID 19 have all greatly impacted the economy, availability of workforce, and the production and delivery of building materials. Shortages are being realized on a variety of products and this shortage can be tied directly to issues at U.S. ports, the clear labor shortage, and ever-increasing demand. Contractors are beginning to source alternatives to widely or previously used products in exchange for quicker delivery times. However, this can often only slightly expediate the receiving of needed materials and not always in the desired quantity. Many consumers are waiting months for materials to arrive, stalling projects, and costing them money. The issue has quickly become a matter of how long you will have to wait rather than if you will have to wait.

Not only is the cost of materials in construction increasing, so is the cost to transport the product.
